Opportunities with the MFA!
The MFA is seeking parent-volunteers and new board members for 2012. Our volunteers help organize and staff family-oriented MFA events throughout the year. Open board positions include Hospitality Coordinator – the person behind Maynard’s outreach of home cooks who prepare a meal for families welcoming a newborn.
The MFA hosts bi-monthly board meetings that are open to all members, and are excellent venues for meeting other local parents and learning about opportunities to get involved. If you’d like to learn more – or check out what the MFA has to offer – contact Maren at storytime@maynardfam.org.

There is a new local ICAN (international cesarean awareness network) chapter providing information to anyone who wants to avoid a cesarean, have a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), is recovering from a cesarean, or wishes to share their experiences. ICAN of Middlesex County will meet monthly on the second Monday of the Month from 7-9pm at the Westford library in the Mary Atwood room. Children are welcome to join us as are spouses. You can also join our online group to post questions: health.groups.yahoo.com/group/ICANofMiddlesexCounty/ ICAN supports mothers who do not want to be forced into unnecessary surgery. Vaginal birth is the normal biological consequence of pregnancy, whether or not the mother has a prior cesarean. You deserve complete information about the risks of vaginal birth and elective cesarean so that you can make the healthiest choice possible for you and your baby. We're not here to make your choices for you. We're here to make sure that you understand that you HAVE the choice. After all, it is still your body and your baby. www.ICAN-online.org/
